Pakistan’s weekly inflation increased by 0.65 per cent, pushing the inflation rate to 8.35 per cent.
According to figures released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the prices of seventeen items went up during the week. The list includes chicken, flour, potatoes, onions and tomatoes.
Onions became 26 per cent more expensive. Tomatoes rose by 2.55 per cent. Tomatoes, wheat flour, chicken, black gram and garlic were also among the items that became dearer.
Petrol and diesel prices also went up during the week.
On a basis, onion prices rose by 162 per cent. Flour became 17 per cent more expensive. Chillies rose by 16 per cent.
Mutton prices increased by 16 per cent, and beef rose by 13 per cent. Milk and bread were also among the items that became more expensive.
The report said LPG prices rose by 54 per cent year‑on‑year and diesel became 38 per cent more expensive. Petrol prices rose by 31 per cent and electricity charges climbed by than 25 per cent.
