Lahore Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Operations Faisal Kamran said on Sunday that workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) plan to bring trained hooligans into Lahore. He said these men were being brought in to stage another incident like the one on May 9.
At a news conference in Lahore, Kamran said there was a plan to bring men to the city after giving them formal training. He said an audio recording had surfaced showing a woman speaking about bringing hooligans into Lahore. The Lahore DIG said this woman is a PTI member and is also accused in the cases related to May 9.
Kamran said police were now trying to find out where these men were trained. He said people were being brought into Lahore from outside without the police knowing about it. He added that the police did not have information about who was coming and when.
He said every citizen has the right to protest.. He claimed that protests by PTI no longer remained peaceful. He said the situation needed attention.
“The state has to do a deal to protect its citizens,” Kamran said. He added that another arrest would be made soon.
