Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar have agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Lebanon, especially in internal affairs and security.
The Lebanese minister met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review relations and areas of mutual cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Housing Minister Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also attended the meeting.
Welcoming Ahmad Al-Hajjar, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the long‑standing ties between Pakistan and Lebanon and conveyed best wishes to the Lebanese leadership.
Both Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Lebanese Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar expressed satisfaction over growing cooperation in the fields of affairs and security, according to the official statement.
PM Shehbaz condemns Israeli attacks on Lebanon
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned what he called aggression against Lebanon. He spoke about the pain caused by the attacks, expressing sympathy for the loss of lives and the destruction of property.
He made it clear that the Pakistani government and the people of Pakistan stand with Lebanon. He assured the leadership that Pakistan will continue to support Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Al-Hajjar thanked the minister for the warm welcome. He said Lebanon is fully committed to deepening cooperation with Pakistan and building stronger ties between the two countries.
Pakistan, Lebanon sign MoU on prisoner transfers
Later, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif went to the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between Pakistan and Lebanon about moving convicted citizens.
The MoU was signed by the ministers of the two countries and creates a legal system that lets convicted citizens finish their sentences in their own countries.
