The export earnings of Pakistan’s freelancers jumped to more than $350 million in the first two months of this financial year, The News said, using data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
According to data released by the central bank, export earnings from freelancers climbed to $352 million in July and August 2026 compared with $244 million in the same months of 2025, showing a year‑on‑year growth of 44 percent.
The data showed that freelancers providing IT-related services earned $212 million during the two-month period, while those engaged in non-IT services generated $139 million.
Chairperson of the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA) Ibrahim Amin said that Pakistani freelancers are continuing to strengthen their presence on freelancing platforms, which is reflected in the rising export receipts being brought into the country.
“Our freelancers are learners and quick to acquire in-demand skills, particularly in AI tools and applications,” he said.
Many freelancers are now working in teams and providing services through agencies registered on international platforms, Amin added.
He appreciated the efforts of the government, private sector and non-governmental organisations in conducting IT and skills-development courses in cities across the country to equip young people with market-oriented skills alongside their academic qualifications.
