Pakistan and Seven Nations Reject Israeli Calls to Displace Palestinians

-

Pakistan and seven other countries have rejected statements made by ministers that called for the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Turkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates said that plans to remove Palestinians from their land go against international law. They also said these proposals violate humanitarian law. The ministers made it clear that such actions are not acceptable and stand in opposition to the principles of justice and human rights.

Pakistan Condemns Remarks Seen as Threat to Palestinian Rights

The joint statement, released by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, declared that such statements threaten the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.

The ministers rejected all attempts or plans to displace people whether within or outside the Occupied Palestinian Territory under any pretext or justification.

The ministers warned that serious consequences would follow if forced displacement became policy or was put into practice. Such measures would challenge efforts to achieve peace and could further weaken stability in the region.

The statement also said the Gaza Strip is a part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. It stressed the need to preserve the unity of territory in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The ministers said the two-State solution remains the path to a just and lasting peace. They called for a Palestinian state along the lines of 4 June 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital in line with relevant international resolutions.

The eight countries also called on the community, especially the United Nations Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities and oppose attempts to impose a new demographic or geographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The ministers reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people and rejected efforts to erase the Palestinian cause or undermine the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
