Actors Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed recently opened up about their 18-year marriage, speaking about their shared outlook on life and admitting that both of them have a similarly clumsy side.
During their appearance on a comedy show, Ahmed discussed how mutual understanding develops naturally over the years while reflecting on their relationship.
“If you take out the first eight to 10 years, after that you understand each other so well that you don’t even have to ask why the other person is quiet. You also learn to ignore some faults,” he said.
Ahmed also said Sunita has had a meaningful influence on how he approaches life. “She has taught me not to worry over every small issue and to avoid overthinking,” the actor said.
The couple, who come from different religious backgrounds, got married in 2008. Their wedding included an Islamic Nikkah as well as a ceremony at a Catholic church. They later became parents to two children.
Sunita recalled an amusing incident from the beginning of their marriage when the pair were heading on foot to a nearby shoot. Ahmed realised he had left his sunglasses behind. Wanting to look “cool,” he insisted on putting them on, even though Sunita repeatedly told him there was no reason to wear them as they would take them off once they entered the dark studio.
“As soon as I entered the studio, I turned around to tell him again to take them off,” she recalled, adding, “The next thing I heard was a loud noise. He was lying on the floor.”
Ahmed explained that there was a small step at the studio entrance. Since he had moved directly from bright sunlight into a poorly lit room while wearing sunglasses, he failed to spot the step and ended up taking a hard fall.
The couple also recalled another funny moment involving Sunita slipping on the stairs at home. “She kept sliding down and just wouldn’t stop,” Ahmed recalled, sharing that instead of panicking, he burst into uncontrollable laughter. The actor added that he himself has fallen at least three times.
Ahmed also admitted that his lack of coordination had caused trouble while driving. He remembered accidentally reversing his car into a drain while his father was seated beside him. After looking at his father in shock, Ahmed said he was immediately scolded.
The actor then shared a spooky experience from his younger years. He was driving home after studying with friends when he suddenly heard a noise and saw what seemed to be a woman dressed in white.
According to Ahmed, his car also began stalling. After restarting it, he checked the rear-view mirror, only to find that the woman had mysteriously vanished.
Scared by what he had witnessed, Ahmed said he started reciting prayers and quickly called a friend to explain the incident. His friend responded humorously, “Wait, let me switch on my room lights first, then tell me.”
The conversation also moved beyond their humorous experiences as the couple spoke about their acting careers and the characters they have portrayed on screen.
Ahmed revealed that one of his most difficult emotional roles came in Pinjra, where he portrayed a mother locking up her daughter. The character had a lasting emotional effect on him. “I would never want to relive that character because it had a huge impact on my mind and heart,” he said.
Sunita said she was mostly happy with the roles she had taken on, although many of her characters were part of tragic storylines. “Still, I am very content with all the roles I have done but I wouldn’t want to do them again because they were all tragic,” the actor stated.
Ahmed also acknowledged that viewers sometimes began associating him with the villains he played on screen. “After playing so many negative characters, people start believing that is how you are in real life,” he said.
The lighthearted interview featured plenty of laughter and personal anecdotes, offering fans a closer look at the bond between Sunita and Ahmed and the reasons they remain among Pakistan’s much-loved celebrity couples.
Professionally, Sunita is currently appearing in Maa and Rang De, while Ahmed was most recently seen in Ishq Tum Se Hua. Over the years, the couple have also appeared together in several projects, including Baby Baji, Mai Akeli, and Express Entertainment’s Dayan.
