A Strong Driver of Economic Growth
YouTube enables creators to turn audiences into businesses. As their channels grow, they scale into local employers—hiring editors, renting studio space, and supporting local suppliers. This ripple effect adds up to massive economic impact: in 2025, YouTube’s creative ecosystem contributed over $60 billion to the U.S. GDP and supported more than 540,000 full-time equivalent jobs.
This is a nationwide phenomenon: creators are thriving exactly where they are, whether in rural areas or urban centers. Today, all 50 states have at least 10 channels with over 1 million monthly views. Those views translate into business growth: 76% of small- and medium-sized businesses with a YouTube channel say YouTube played a role in helping them grow their customer base by reaching new audiences.

This helps to keep the conversation going. A lot of YouTube creators have gone on to have careers in the media and entertainment business. In fact 77% of them got their start on YouTube.
The videos that YouTube creators make help people connect with each other. A lot of people watch music videos and music festivals on YouTube. 87% of people who watch YouTube have watched something like that in the last year. Many people also talk about YouTube videos with their friends and family. 67% of people do this at least once a month. For people this number is even higher. On YouTube anyone can share their ideas and thoughts with people over the world. YouTube is, like a stage where everyone can be seen and heard.
A Reliable Platform for Educators and Families
Parents and teachers often use YouTube to help kids find things that’re right for their age and to help them learn more. This can be when a student is trying to understand something in science getting ready for a test or learning to play the guitar.
A lot of teachers use YouTube in their classes. In fact 94% of teachers who use YouTube say they use YouTube videos in their lessons or homework. 81% of them say that YouTube helps their students learn things they would not know otherwise. At home 78% of parents who use YouTube think that YouTube has things for their kids to watch and learn from. They like YouTube and YouTube Kids which’s for kids, under thirteen.
Powering the Creator Economy
YouTube is a place for people to do big things. You can use YouTube to help your small business get bigger to talk about issues or to teach students in a classroom.
