World Culture Festival: ‘Road’ Russian Theater Ensemble Steals the Show

During the 27th day of the 38-day World Culture Festival Karachi organized by the Arts Council of Pakistan, the Russian company Di Lidia Kopina presented a physical theater performance called Road. The performance featured the exceptional talents of theater directors Lidia, Maria, Veronica, and Tatiana, drawing a large crowd.

Muhammad Ahmed Shah, the President of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, shared his thoughts, mentioning that 20 countries, including Palestine, are participating in the festival. He acknowledged the difficulties faced by Palestinian artists in attending the event and highlighted that they will perform 5 to 6 different dances throughout the festival. Shah emphasized the global significance of the World Culture Festival, with artists worldwide coming together. The captivating acting of the Russian artists greatly impressed the Pakistani audience. Through physical movements, the theater portrayed the journey of finding one’s place in life. It depicted the convergence of paths, the awakening to self-discovery, and the striving to unlock our potential. The performance encouraged introspection, exploring our fears, desires, and attachments to reveal our true selves. It emphasized the significance of the traveler’s journey rather than solely focusing on the destination. The road is shaped by those who walk it, and the Road creates a space for the audience to delve into their interpretations. Each image served as a code for the subconscious, but the narration and understanding depended on the individual’s internal experiences. Ultimately, the performance conveyed that there is no right or wrong path, but there is always an opportunity to learn something new with every step taken. The Russian artists’ performance received warm and appreciative applause from the audience, as their physical movements showcased a rich and engaging experience.
