Acclaimed actress Nasreen Naz has officially joined the cast of Pakistan’s first digital Sindhi feature film, MARVI, further strengthening the film’s ensemble with one of Pakistan’s most experienced and accomplished performers.
Announcing the development, Umar Khitab Khan, the writer and director of MARVI, expressed his admiration for the veteran actress and described her casting as a valuable addition to the project.
“I was familiar with Nasreen Naz through her outstanding work on Pakistan Television and private television channels. I had also watched several of her films, including Mamta, Hyder Khan, and Paland. One of her remarkable films, Barsat Ji Raat, was also released on my YouTube channel,” Khan said.
According to Khan, Nasreen Naz’s distinctive acting style and commanding screen presence led him to shortlist her during the earliest stages of casting.
“Her unique dialogue delivery and powerful performances made her an obvious choice for MARVI. She was among the first artists I shortlisted while developing the cast.”
The filmmaker also shared an interesting story about how the actress became officially associated with the project.
“One day, Nasreen Naz shared a promotional video for MARVI on social media and later sent it to me after obtaining my contact number. It was the perfect opportunity to surprise her by revealing that she had already been selected for the film. I told her that my assistant director would be contacting her within a day or two regarding the agreement. That was the moment she officially became part of the MARVI family.”
Beyond her artistic abilities, Khan praised Nasreen Naz for her character and generosity within the entertainment industry.
“In an industry where competition often leads to jealousy and insincerity, there are still people like Nasreen Naz who genuinely wish well for others. She is one of those rare individuals whose kindness, humility, and positive spirit make her just as remarkable off-screen as she is on-screen.”
Expressing confidence in her contribution to the film, Khan said her experience will significantly enhance the overall quality of the performances in MARVI.
“I am confident that the presence of such an accomplished actress will further strengthen the film’s acting department. Her experience and professionalism will inspire everyone on the set and add tremendous depth to the project.”
Currently in the final stages of casting, MARVI is Pakistan’s first digital Sindhi feature film and aims to usher in a new era of Sindhi cinema through compelling storytelling, modern filmmaking techniques, and a cast featuring some of the country’s finest television, theatre, and film artists.
