Indian playback singer Shilpa Rao has shown respect to the Pakistani singer Madam Noor Jehan on what would have been the Queen of Melody’s 100th birthday.

Many years have gone by since Noor Jehan passed away. Her voice and the music she created still stay in the hearts of fans who come from different generations.

To celebrate this birthday, Shilpa Rao went to Instagram to pay respect to the late Pakistani playback singer. Rao, who is famous for songs, like ‘Besharam Rang ‘, posted a video of herself singing the known song ‘Niyat-e-Shauq’ by Noor Jehan as a way to remember her.

Alongside the video Rao wrote that it was Noor Jehan’s birthday on September 21. She pointed out that 2026 marks the year of the legendary singer’s birth. She also sent “lots and lots of love” to the artist.

Noor Jehan, widely known as the Queen of Melody would have turned 100 this year. Her remarkable contribution to music continues to make her one of the most celebrated voices in the country’s musical history.

Rao’s tribute came after Noor Jehan’s grandson, actor and comedian Ahmed Ali Butt expressed disappointment over the lack of tributes to the singer on her 100th birthday.

Butt had highlighted that the milestone passed without what he felt was recognition for the iconic singer. Noor Jehan’s contribution, to Pakistan’s music industry remains deeply remembered.
