Photos from the Nepali police show floodwater rushing down a river and destroying buildings in its way. Meanwhile, AFP images show the floor of a house poking out from the thick muddy soil.
“We do not know how much damage there is, but the flood is big, and the flood could have damaged many settlements,” Nepal police spokesman Abi Narayan Kafle told AFP.
“We have told people who live near the riverside to move… And we have sent out all our resources,” Abi Narayan Kafle said.
The Nepal Army said it has sent helicopters and disaster response teams to the area.
“We are working to collect details about the damage now ” the Nepal Army said in a statement.
Chinese state broadcaster CCTV reported Wednesday that “a mudslide disaster on the side resulted in major casualties and missing people, at the Gyirong Port” in Tibet.
