Pakistan opening batter Saim Ayub has been left out of the national ODI squad following a string of disappointing performances in the ongoing tri-nation series. Sahibzada Farhan has been selected to replace him in the team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has instructed Saim to return to domestic cricket in an effort to rediscover his batting form, while Farhan is expected to travel from Nepal to join the national squad.
Saim struggled to deliver with the bat during Pakistan’s opening three matches of the tri-nation tournament, scoring just 21 runs across those appearances.
His inability to produce significant runs appears to have influenced the selectors’ decision to revise the squad, resulting in the young opener temporarily losing his place in the national team.
The PCB has advised the left-handed batter to focus on domestic competitions, where he will have the opportunity to rebuild his confidence, improve his performances and work towards earning a return to international cricket.
Farhan Selected as Replacement
Sahibzada Farhan has been named in Pakistan’s ODI squad, taking the place of opening batter Saim Ayub following the selectors’ decision to make changes to the team.
Farhan, the captain of Pakistan’s T20 side, is currently in Nepal, where he is competing in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). He is expected to return to Pakistan on the earliest available flight to link up with the national team.
His addition offers Pakistan an alternative at the top of the batting order as the side aims to improve its batting strength and overall performance in the ongoing tri-nation series.
PCB Urges Saim Ayub to Rediscover His Batting Form
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Saim Ayub will return to domestic cricket following instructions from the board, allowing the opening batter an opportunity to recover his batting form and rebuild his confidence.
The move comes after Saim managed to score just 21 runs in Pakistan’s opening three matches of the ongoing tri-nation series. His disappointing performances have prompted the selectors to make adjustments to the national squad.
Saim will now focus on improving his batting performances through domestic competitions, with the objective of regaining consistency and earning another opportunity to represent Pakistan at the international level.
