The U.S. Consulate in Karachi is proud to announce the appointment of Charles Goodman as the new U.S. Consul General. His arrival marks not just a new chapter in his distinguished diplomatic career, but also a return to a country he knows well—Pakistan.
Consul General Goodman previously served at the U.S. Consulate in Lahore from 2011 to 2012. Now, more than a decade later, he returns to Pakistan with a wealth of experience and a renewed commitment to strengthening U.S.-Pakistan relations.

A seasoned diplomat and career member of the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Goodman most recently held the position of Management Counselor at the U.S. Mission to New Zealand. His extensive overseas assignments include key leadership roles in Kosovo, Peru, Latvia, Georgia, and Argentina—highlighting a global portfolio defined by diplomacy, collaboration, and service.
Before joining the U.S. Department of State in 2006, Goodman spent over 20 years in the private sector, equipping him with strong organizational and managerial expertise that continue to shape his leadership style.
In his new role in Karachi, Consul General Goodman is expected to focus on enhancing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the United States and Pakistan. His arrival comes at a pivotal time, as both nations continue to explore opportunities for deeper collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
The Consulate and the broader U.S. Mission in Pakistan look forward to Consul General Goodman’s leadership and contributions.
