Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani on Thursday appreciated Pakistan’s positive role and diplomatic efforts aimed at advancing peace and stability across the region.
During his visit to Pakistan, Dr Al Zayani called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to co-chair the third meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC), alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received the Bahraini foreign minister and extended his best wishes to the leadership and people of Bahrain. He expressed satisfaction with the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Bahrain, which are rooted in shared values, mutual confidence, and strong people-to-people connections.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was keen to expand its cooperation with Bahrain across key areas including trade, investment, energy and human resource development.
Dr Al Zayani conveyed the Bahraini leadership’s greetings and best wishes, while reaffirming his country’s resolve to further enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments and highlighted the need for continued consultation and coordination on issues of mutual concern.
The prime minister said the third session of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission would help accelerate bilateral cooperation and further strengthen relations between the two countries.
Separately, Pakistan and Bahrain signed the minutes of the third session of the Joint Ministerial Commission, agreeing to broaden cooperation across several sectors, including trade, agriculture, energy, minerals, information technology, healthcare and education.
The two sides also reached an agreement to form a government-level joint working group focused on trade and investment. The group will serve as an institutional platform for consultations and discussions on trade and investment-related issues.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani signed the protocol.
