A lot of people in the United States who vote say they are not doing well financially since President Donald Trump went back to the White House. This is with a few months left before the elections in November. This is what a poll by the Financial Times found out.
The poll by Focaldata found that fifty-three percent of people who are registered to vote feel worse off financially under President Donald Trump. This includes fifty-seven percent of people who do not belong to any party and about one quarter of Republicans. Two-thirds of people say the United States economy is not going in the right direction. Twenty-five percent say it is going in the right direction.
People also think Democrats are better than Republicans when it comes to inflation and the cost of living. They also think Democrats are better at handling jobs and the economy. President Donald Trump’s rating on inflation and living costs is particularly bad. Sixty-four percent of people do not approve of what he’s doing. This includes seventy percent of people who do not belong to any party and about one third of Republicans.
Overall, fifty-five percent of people do not approve of President Donald Trump’s performance. His approval rating among Republicans also went down by eight percentage points from the month.
When people were asked which party they will support in November, forty-four percent said Democrats and thirty-nine percent said Republicans. Other polls have said that Democrats might get control of the House again. It will be harder for them to get control of the Senate.
These findings are coming out at a time when inflation and high prices are affecting Americans. People are also not feeling good about the economy. Inflation was at three point four percent in July. The government also said that people’s real wages went down month.
A spokesperson for the White House, Kush Desai, defended President Donald Trump’s record. He said, “The Trump administration is still working on making things more affordable for people. We are lowering drug prices, bringing back jobs and cutting taxes. We are also proud of the fact that violent crime has gone down and our borders are more secure than ever.”
The poll was done online by Focaldata from August seventh to tenth. They asked one thousand nine hundred and thirteen registered voters. The margin of error. Or minus two point nine percentage points.
