-

Electricity consumers will have to pay Rs 0.52 for each unit of electricity. This increase comes after a price rise that was approved under the adjustment mechanism. The decision was announced in a notification from the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, known as Nepra.

The new rate will add a burden of approximately Rs12.67 billion to the total cost paid by electricity consumers.

Electricity consumers will see the charge on their bills for the months of September, October and November.

Lifeline consumers remain exempt

The latest increase will not apply to lifeline electricity consumers, according to the notification.
