A Pakistani mountaineer and trail runner named Anum Uzair has reached another goal by winning the first-ever 100-kilometre Galiyat Mountain Trail Ultra Marathon in Pakistan. This race is one of the endurance events in the country.
The tough race tested runners with mountain areas, thick forests and the ongoing danger of wild animals. With these hard conditions Anum finished the tough race with strong will and strong body.
When she spoke to a TV channel Anum gave her win to the women of Pakistan especially the female runners. She said she wants to show the country on the world stage by taking part in different races in the future.
Thinking about the dangers Anum knew the race would be very hard. She talked about the chance of getting struck by lightning. Said it was like the danger of snowstorms during mountain climbing. Wild animals she added, were also a problem.
Anum remembered meeting a leopard during a training run for a 40-kilometre race. The animal was 200 feet in front of her on the path. She said this moment eventually helped her beat her fear and feel more sure of herself.
“Once I beat the fear I focused on my goal. And I made it ” she said.
When she compared mountain climbing with trail running Anum said the two sports have different challenges and dangers.. She said trail running usually takes less time, which lets her manage her sports dreams and her duties as a mother.
She also talked about how important it’s to stay in shape all year. Anum said she works out often and thinks being fit is important for everyone whether they are in sports or not.
For her fitness plan she said she climbs the same as 100 floors of stairs and keeps herself ready, for any challenge that comes next.
