The European Film Festival, also known as EUFF, is coming back to Pakistan this month for its edition. The European Film Festival will now travel to two host cities, bringing European cinema to audiences all over the country.
The Delegation of the European Union to Pakistan, the group that runs the festival, posted the schedule on Instagram. They called this year’s edition a continuation of the five‑year journey across Pakistan. EUFF 2026 will run from September 12 to September 30, moving through three cities: Islamabad, Sialkot and Jamshoro/Hyderabad.
Islamabad will remain the anchor city for the European Film Festival as it has appeared in every edition since EUFF started in Pakistan in 2021. The Pakistan National Council of the Arts, or PNCA, will host the opening part again with screenings on September 12 and 13.
Sialkot will become a host city for the European Film Festival this year. Screenings will happen at Government College Women University and The Grid by BLCK, a restaurant and event space, on September 16 and 17.
After that, the European Film Festival will head to Sindh for its stop. The Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro University of Art, Design and Heritage, in Jamshoro/Hyderabad, will show the films on September 29 and 30.
Organisers still have not announced the film lineup for this year’s edition. The fourth edition, held in November 2025 across Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore, showcased 19 feature films and 10 short films from the European Union.
The programme included films from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, France, Germany and Portugal. Each stop had a special slot for children’s films.
Beyond the screenings, the 2025 edition offered installations, dramatic readings and the festival’s signature social dances, plus selected food kiosks at each venue. The festival was free and open to the public, and no registration or tickets were needed.
It remains unclear whether this year’s edition will follow the format. EUFF has always paired its film programme with performances and community activities, creating a broader cultural experience around its screenings.
Since its debut in 2021, EUFF has steadily expanded beyond Pakistan’s cities. Previous editions also travelled to Quetta, Peshawar, Gilgit, Faisalabad, Gujrat and Multan.
