Since the lockdown, the Bollywood film industry has suffered a loss of ten million dollars

-

Even before Covid19, the condition of the Bollywood industry was not very good and India’s biggest film center Mumbai was given a tough time by the South Indian film industry, but after the lockdown, the downfall of Bollywood actually started. South Indian films have created havoc all over the world and Bollywood is almost out of the game. First Bahubali, surprised the world. Then came KGF, and since the lockdown, it seems like the South Indian film industry is proving to be a monster for Bollywood. After RRR, KGF Chapter 2, and Pushpa, the internationally successful business is a lesson for Bollywood.

Since cinemas reopened after the lockdown, around three dozen mega-budgeted Bollywood movies have earned the tag of disaster at the box office. The aftershocks of Covid are not over yet and recently a film like Shamshera, which has a stable banner like Yash Raj behind it, has done poorly at the box office. In the last two years, the failure of Bollywood’s mega movies has cost the industry around 10 million dollars.

After Covid19, the mega films of big stars that faced the worst failure at the box office include Bell Bottom (Akshay Kumar), Bunty Aur Babli 2 (Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukherji), Antim (Salman Khan), 83 (Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone), Bachchan Pandey (Akshay Kumar, Kirty Senon, Jacqueline Fernandez), Jersey (Shahid Kapoor), Runway 34 (Ajay Devgan, Amitabh Bachchan), Hero Panti 2 (Tiger Shroff, Nawazuddin Siddiqui), Jayeshbhai Jordaar (Ranveer Singh) ), Samrat Prithviraj (Aksha Kumar, Sanjay Dutt), Ek Villain Returns (John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor), Dasvi (Abhishek Bachchan, Yami Gupta), Atrangi Re (Aksha Kumar, Sara Ali Khan), Gehraiyaan (Deepika Padukone), Bhoot Police (Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline, Yami Gupta), Toofan (Farhan Akhtar, Marunil Thakur), The Big Bull (Abhishek Bachchan), Radhe (Salman Khan), AK vs AK (Anil Kapoor), Coolie No. 1 (Varun Dhawan, Sara Ali Khan), Tribhanga (Kajol), Lakshmi (Aksha Kumar, Kaira Advani) and Shamshera (Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt) are prominent. These films caused billions of rupees loss to Bollywood. It should be noted that the budget for most of these films was more than one billion rupees (Indian).

Apart from these megastar movies, many big banner films with big stars have failed at the box office, including Indu Ki Jawani (Kaira Advani), Hungama 2 (Paresh Rawal), Mumbai Saga (Emraan Hashmi), Sandeep and Pinky Faraar (Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra), Saina (Parineeti Chopra), Chehrey (Emraan Hashmi, Amitabh Bachchan), Satyameva Jayate 2 (John Abraham), Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (Ayushmann Khurrana), Badhaai Do (Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar) ), Attack (John Abraham), Dhakkar (Kangana Ranaut), Anek (Ayushmann Khurrana), Rashtra Kavach Om (Aditya Roy Kapur), Khudahafiz 2 (Vidyut Jamwal), Shabash Mithu (Taapsee Pannu), A Thursday (Yami Gupta), Rashmi Rocket (Taapsee Pannu), Sardar Udham (Vicky Kaushal), Senak (Vidyut Jamwal), Hum Do Hamare Do (Rajkummar Rao, Kirti Senon), Haseen Dillruba (Taapsee Pannu), Pagglait (Sanya Malhotra), Roohi (Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor), Grand Son of Sardar (Arjun Kapoor), Sherni (Vidya Balan), Sooraj Pe Mangal Bhari (Diljit Dosanjh, Fatima Sana), Durgamati (Bhumi Pednekar), Ginny Weds Sunny (Yami Gupta), and Khaali Peeli (Ananya Pandey) is worth mentioning.

In this period i.e. after the lockdown, only two Bollywood films Suryavanshi (Aksha Kumar, Katrina Kaif) and Bhool Bhaliyaan 2 (Karthik Aaryan, Kaira Advani) have managed to achieve hit status. While Gangubai Kathiawadi (Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgan), and Jugjugg Jeeyo (Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Kaira Advani) have been considered average, meaning that these films have barely recovered their costs.
