Gone are the days of wishing and dreaming for our own film industry to revive, it has resurrected, the dream has become a reality. But with very few screens nationally the, profits are limited, and therefore the investors and sponsors are as hard to find as a 10/10 girl without a boyfriend. But never the less it brings joy to see our film industry is struggling, fighting and takings its baby steps towards the growth. One can see the flood of joy, assumptions, judgments, in short the mass focus of all the media, specifically social media, every time a film releases its trailer. There may be negative discussions too but in our hearts we all want the upcoming film to be a success as we all know that the success of any film is success of film industry which is an asset of the whole nation. And that is exactly what I wished from the depth of my heart when I went to the premiere of Na Maloom Afraad 2. The producers of Na Maloom AfrAad 2 had already made two successful films but they exceeded my expectations as this film was shot abroad. My sincere appreciations for pushing the envelope. Plus the lights and color tone were very filmy, it was satisfying to see the film actually looked like an international commercial film. I was very disappointed by most of the previous films that looked like a telefilm on big screens with saturated colors. I would clap again as the cast was good and the 2 commercial songs were great!. BUT BUT …BUT.. what I have not yet been able to understand is WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCRIPT !!!!!! I mean the makers were making their 3rd film, how could they have invested a single penny on such a script, if there was any script at all because I it’s hard to for me to believe there was. There is not a single dialogue that I remember, hardly any poetics in any conversation. The conversation between film characters should not be like a conversation between every day common people. I mean it should sound like it but there should be subtext underlying the dialogues, and conflict poetically flowing in a zig zag manner towards the resolution that throws us into the coming scene. I mean what else would we need the writers for if the conversations were to be like a simple average conversation! To me I would say the whole script looked it was written in a day or was never written, just discussed on set while filming the scenes. I have seen a lot of tv telefilms that have far better scripts and I will be happy to present them to anyone who doubts my statement. Beside many other things that I did not understand like how could someone mistake a boxed heavy golden pot to be a wedding dress, I mean guys the weigh difference should be a lot. And why did Sahikh put those rare diamonds right where he pooped every single day, I mean if it was for safety I can think of hundred different places but any ways will someone please explain because it was never explained in the film. But the most lame to me was when two mentally fit guys ( Fahad Mustafa and Mohsin Abass’s character ) believed that their partner could shit polished and properly crafted diamonds. And further feed him so that he will shit some more properly cut and polished daimonds. This is where someone might ask why am I watching “the three stooges”, I paid for Na Maloom Afraad 2. And another big elementary mistake I felt was that no relations ship in the whole story ever gets affected by the main happing of the story. I mean there were two major love stories in the film that should have been affected at least a little. I mean story telling business is at the core emotion selling business. People come to watch a story and expect the storytellers to take them on an emotional roller coaster ride. To suggest a few Mohsin Abaass’s character could have come to a point where he has to chose either his love or his friends, I mean guys I have yet to watch a film with absolutely no side story and no emotional side effects on any relation. Okay, ‘ but the scenes were entertaining ‘ one might advocate, there surely were and I am witness to that. But honestly guys if people were so addicted to entertainment they would go watch loins jumping from fire rings and bears riding bicycles. If people were so addicted to only laughter, super hit comedy shows like Kapils Sharm’s show would have been playing on cinema but they don’t and guess why ? People got to cinema for stories ! Good stories well told is the ultimate formula for cinema. Stories that make us fall in love with the character and takes us on a adventuress journey, makes us laugh, makes us feel sad for a character, makes us experience love, fear, thrill to mention few emotions. Only comedy is just not sufficient. Well the actors still managed to entertain, especially Fahad Mustafa and Javaid Shaikh. I think that is only what makes you watch the film till the end, but a film you would forget the moment you are out of cinema and may think a lot before recommending to someone else. Having said that I really hope the film does business. We all want the industry to flourish but will someone please tell the industry that it is not big budget, not big stars, not special effects, not shooting in grand locations that will save the film. When it comes to cinema STORY IS THE KING ! A film with very high production value and very bad script will not survive cinema but a film with a very good script and bad production value will. For God sakes give more value to script and be willing to spend some money on it, it is the back bone of your project or the industry may fall before it has risen.
